Goal Setting - 7 Steps To Winning in Network Marketing

I LOVE goal setting! It's so much fun! You get to have all your dreams living and buzzing around inside of you. It puts a cheeky little smile on your face and a bounce in your stride. It's like you have a big secret ... and we love secrets don't we?

So, how do we go about goal setting?

Goal setting gets a bum rap and that's because in the past it was so regimented. Do this, do that - ra-ra-ra!

I have a more fun way of approaching goal setting. And in my book any goal setting is better than no goal setting at all.

Firstly, where are you right now in your network marketing business? Have you reached the levels of success you desire? If not, then lets get to work on your goal setting.

Step 1 - Get a Journal

If you're in network marketing you know Jim Rohn. 

Jim Rohn was dedicated to goal setting and he was dedicated to recording his life in order to keep himself on track. By writing daily he was being a witness to his own life. 

So if you're serious about getting ahead in 2012, get a journal! Write down the goals you're going to work towards and write down your progress; your journey, your achievements, your challenges. Write it all down - it'll keep you honest.

Step 2 - Get Yourself into a Powerful, Positive State of Mind

If you want to set yourself some serious, 'take no prisoners' goals for your network marketing business, being a wimp is not going to cut it!

Put yourself into an excited, powerful state of mind. Puff out your chest. Know that anything you believe you can achieve. Goal setting is not for wussy's!

Step 3 - Blurt it all out!

Go crazy here! If there were no hurdles in your way, if you knew beyond a measure of a doubt you could have anything and be anyone, what would you go for? There are no rules here. Just go for it! Let your imagination run wild! Write it all down!

If you want to fly a helicopter to work like Tony Robbins, then write it down. If you want to live in the South of France for part of the year, write it down. If you want to have a chauffeur driven Rolls Royce Ghost at your disposal, write it down! If you want to sail the Mediterranean on your own customized luxury yacht sipping Dom P all day long, write it down! Nothing is too ridiculous. Pump up the stereo and let 'er rip! There are no restrictions here. Whatever it is that your mind can conceive you can achieve.

Step 4 - Now get your priorities in the right order

Now take a look at your list and find the action items that have the most priority and number them with 1 being the most important. Yes, you can have all the goodies you dreamed up in Step 3, but now we've got to work out a plan to get them all.

In order for you to get all the things you want, what do you need to be doing in your network marketing business to achieve this?

Work out how much income you need to be generating per year, per month, per day to achieve the results you need.

Now that you have a dollar amount in mind, work out how many people you need to sponsor into your network marketing business per year, per month, per day to achieve that.

For example: "I am generating an income of $1,000,000 with the Empower Network by the end of 2012". When I started goal setting for 2012 I laid out a step by step plan on how to do that. If you read my blog "MLM  Success With The Empower Network" you'll see how I've outlined how it's possible in 10 weeks with the Empower Network .. but I'm happy with the end of the year : )

Step 5 - Get it in writing & believe!

In goal setting this is where the magic happens. In "At Last! The Real Secret To Making Money In Network Marketing Is Revealed" I spoke of the power of "The Law Of Attraction". In it's most simplest form, "The Law Of Attraction" is about 'like' attracting 'like'. If you put out powerful visualizations to the Universe It will bounce powerful realizations right back at you.

The opposite is true as well. If you focus on negative visualizations, the Universe will give you exactly what you're focussing on. It doesn't want to disappoint you.

So, when it comes to goal setting you must state your goals in the present tense, as credibly and as specifically and as highly emotively as you can, as if they have already manifested in your life. And most importantly, get yourself into a state of really believing that your goals are a reality.

For example: "I am driving my sexy, silver 2012 Audi A7 to my dream house on the hill!" Hear the roar of the engine, feel the soft, leather steering wheel in your grip, breathe in that 'brand new' European import car fragrance, soak up the admiring glances of passersby, heck check your reflection in shop windows if that gets you going! Make it so REAL you can feel it with every fibre of your being.

As your focus goes, so you go. So remember to keep your goals stated in the positive.

For example: "I don't procrastinate in calling my prospects any more" focusses on the negative of procrastination. It would be better phrased as: "I am powerfully proactive in calling hot prospects who can't wait to join my network marketing business!" It has a better energy wouldn't you agree?

Step 6 - “The path to success is to take massive, determined action" ~ Tony Robbins

Immediately take some form of massive action towards your goals.

If your goal is to get 1,000 people into your network marketing business you've got some work to do.

What would you need to do right now to get the ball rolling? How many people would you need to talk to daily? How many posts would you need to write? How many ads would you need to put out? Who would you need to start connecting with? Determine specifically what you need to do right now to start on your goals.

Chances are you'll need to get out of your comfort zone - so get uncomfortable. If you keep doing what you've always done, you're going to keep getting the results you've always gotten. As Tony would say, "When would NOW be a good time to change things?"

Step 7 - Don't you EVER quit on your dreams!

Winners never quit, and quitters never win!!!

Commit to doing WhatEver It Takes to achieve your goals. If you're not in this for the long run, quit now and save yourself, your family and your friends a whole lot of heartache & frustration.

I'm not trying to be harsh here, but there's a reason why 97% of all people who start in network marketing fail. They fail because they don't have what it takes to put in the massive effort required to reach their dreams. It's so much easier just to do a 9-5 job, take a salary each week and stay safe.
