I know, because that's how it was for us in the beginning. But I'm here to let you know that it CAN be done! We know how to get your website on Google and we know how we can help you.
Now just a quick clarification here, the search engines rank individual pages not sites. So when you're trying to figure out how to get your website on Google remember you only have to think of the exact page you're trying to get ranked.
If you're not getting ranked on page 1 you're wasting your time. The whole point of creating your website is to get exposure and make money online. There are only 10 spots on Page 1. You need to know out to get there!
We ranked FOUR times on PAGE 1 of Google!
Out of 236,000 results how did we do this?
We did our RESEARCH!
Do you want to know how to get YOUR website on google??? Read on!
STEP 1: You MUST do your Research!
There's no excuses for trying to guess this.
Work out WHO your target market is and what they NEED. The easiest way to identify their NEED is to identify their PAIN. And then offer aSOLUTION that SOLVES their pain. Pretty simple stuff really. Just basic Marketing 101.
So when we were writing about the Empower Network we established that the pain our market was suffering was the fact that they couldn't make money online with a poor sales funnel. So what does our market need? The Ultimate Sales Funnel of course.
STEP 2: Keyword Research
For beginners the easiest way to do your keyword research is with the free keyword tool from Google.
If you learn nothing else from this post - LEARN THIS:
When you are new to internet marketing and you really DO want to make money online the ONLY WAY you will ever get traffic to your website is to find LOW COMPETITION/HIGH TRAFFIC keywords. If you've been having sleepless nights trying to figure out how to get your website on google - this is the key.
Many people think it's better to get tonnes of traffic to their website. But what's the point if they hit the 'back' button as soon as they land? You want to attract TARGETED TRAFFIC that will stay on your page and find out what it is you have that will solve THEIR SPECIFIC PROBLEM.
So the simplest way to establish this is to ask yourself: "If someone was looking for a website just like mine, what would they be searching for?"
For the sake of our example we were wanting to attract people who were looking for "The Ultimate Sales Funnel". It was a long shot but we wanted to try.
Our keyword research revealed the following:
We discovered that we had very low competition on this word.
I know 170 global monthly searches doesn't sound like much, but that's 170 people each month specifically targeting the keyword 'long-tail' (long-tail is a term given to a keyword phrase that is longer than the normal keyword phrase that you might have been trying to target in the past to get organic traffic from the search engines).
Over the course of a year that 2,040 people looking at this one post. That post will live on forever and who knows how many leads we may get from it. So for the price of a few hours work in creating the post, I'd say it's worth it.
Step 3: Keyword Placement
The critical element of how to get your website on Google is all in your keyword placement.
Your keywords must appear as follows:
- In the first three words of your title. If you can't make it work, consider putting a semi-colon after your keywords. For example, "Internet Secrets Revealed: How To ....." The search engines use the title to understand what your post is about.
- In the first paragraph.
- In your H1 (Heading 1), H2 (Heading 2) and H3 (Heading 3) tags. Headings organize the text on your post allowing people to find information easily.
- In the title of your image. You must have images in your post to keep your reader entertained.
- In your body content up to 2% density. Use your keywords up to two times per 100 words. This prevents your post sounding spammy. Search engines don't like it and you'll get a Google Slap at some point.
Step 4: Internal Linking
Create descriptive internal links within your site so the search engines understand what the page being linked to is all about. They are important because:
- They help the search engines crawl through your site
- They helps your visitors read related material
- They link relevant pages together
- You can highlight key words with specific pages
In Step 1 and here notice how I internally link the keyword phrase The Ultimate Sales Funnel. That's done deliberately to enable the search engines to more effectively understand what my site is about.
Step 5: Backlinking
If you want to know the number one top SECRET of how to get your website on Google, it's through effective backlinking.
A backlink is a link on someone else’s site that links to your site. It's critical that you get a large number of backlinks because part of the algorithm for ranking your post is determined by the number and quality of backlinks to your site. This is an essential part of how to get your website on Google.
Backlinks are how you get your name out on the Internet. If you have a lot of sites linking to yours this is going to naturally increase traffic to your post.
But if you're new to all of this, you need to be VERY careful about how you build your backlinks. You need to build these over time.
If 30,000 backlinks turn up overnight to your site this is going to raise a major red flag to Google because you're not an 'authority site' yet. It takes time to become an authority site.
You need to grow your backlinks progressively from blogs, articles and videos. If you're new the best way to do this is through Social Media. You want real people to 'genuinely' LIKE your site.
In my opinion one of the best and most fun ways to do this is through TribePro. Check out my blog, TribePro Review - Why You Need To Be Part Of A Tribe to learn more about this strategic way to create natural backlinks that the Search Engines LOVE.
Now you need to focus not just on the QUANTITY of your backlinks but also the QUALITY of your backlinks.
Backlinks from .edu and .gov sites are like gold as these are regarded as authority sites.
If you're looking for instant backlinks from an authority site sign up for your own blog on the Empower Network. For $25 you have your own blog on an authority site that has a Page Rank of 1.
